Access to the Department laboratories by non-permanent personnel must be authorized by the Department Director. For each new entry, the following forms must be completed (New Entry Forms):
- Request for temporary authorization to access the Department
- Declaration of completed training and workplace health and safety briefing
- Individual form for the assessment of potential exposure to occupational risks

Pending the establishment of a formal regulation, the following categories are eligible for temporary access to the Department:
- PhD students or Research Fellows supervised by a Department Professor, and holders of Research Grants working in Department research groups
- Thesis students supervised by a Department Professor
- Guests, including Professors, Researchers, PhD students, or Research Fellows from other Departments, Universities, or Research Institutions in Italy or abroad, temporarily engaged in research activities, lecture series, or teaching at the Department
- Students enrolled in Degree Programs hosted within the Department
- Students from other Departments, provided they have at least one Department Professor involved
- International mobility students
- Master’s program students involving the Department
- Volunteer observers who have recently completed a Master’s Degree, PhD, Research Grant, or Specialization School at the Department and do not hold any position at the University of Messina; access is allowed for a maximum of 3 months, renewable for an additional 3 months at most
- Graduated interns placed in work by the University through specific agreements with companies or public/private entities (e.g., trainees)
- Secondary school students and teachers participating in “PLS” projects or other scientific orientation initiatives
